Today for the first time in a long time I didn’t wrestle with something really big that was out of my control. It would have thrown me off in the past, but something inside of me shifted. It wasn’t anything that I had done, but it was a maturing of my faith in God. It was complete trust. It felt effortless and I was at peace. That peace that only Christ can give. I didn’t feel the fear, I didn’t try to frantically fix it or stop what was happening, I just fully surrendered the outcome to God. I bounce back pretty quickly from difficulties, but over the last few months I have been wrestling with big changes, challenges, moments of fear, bouts of tears, lack of understanding and deep reflection. My ground was shaken and that’s why I haven’t posted a lot. I have been doing a lot of soul searching and deepening and stretching even more my faith in God through these dark nights of the soul. Today rather than succumbing to fear I knew whatever I was facing I was going to be alright. I knew whichever way it went that God would sort it out. I prayed and placed my full trust in the Lord and fell into a deep and peaceful sleep for hours. I didn’t even hear the phone ring which regarded the matter and when I woke up later this evening everything was resolved without my ever needing to lift a finger or trying to alter the outcome. What happened tonight wasn’t just a miracle, but it was about my growth in my faith in God. It was about remembrance of all the countless times God was there for me. I won’t lie a growth in faith does not often feel great, but it’s where character is developed and when you get through whatever you are going through the joy, realisation and peace that follow are unparalleled. Whatever you are going through Jesus is real and loves you more than you could ever imagine and this isn’t about religion it’s about a great God who is always by your side even in the eye of your biggest storm. Being in the moment is honestly the most beautiful place to be to really connect with what is happening in real time. Genuine conversations, the love of nature, appreciation of great music, art and in general the appreciation of others, slowing down and engaging in the full use of all of our senses is so fulfilling , but to be honest I wonder how many of us actually do that throughout the day. I have come to realise that being in the moment is vital to who I am and am making a conscious decision to really appreciate my surroundings every day. I think being in the moment is a muscle we could all exercise more. The more you do it the greater the awareness. You are not late and are perfectly on time ⭐️⭐️⭐️ You will never miss out on something that is truly meant for you. Perhaps we see ourselves on a certain trajectory and then the detours and delays show up. We take another route that feels at times longer, slower, unpredictable or maybe we arrive at a dead end and feel “stuck” but every single part of the journey has meaning. Heck you may even end up at a completely different and more exciting and fulfilling destination. I don’t believe things happen to us, but rather they happen for us. Hope you are all staying cool during this hot summer. “Shortcut” a film written and directed by the very talented @s.benedit The story takes place in the sleek and creative 80s at Jackie Brown, a hair salon, but not just any ordinary hair salon, rather a salon that is a microcosm of the external world where connection and disconnection meet. The psychological incongruence between both extremes is what levels out the dramatic scene and entices the viewer to question their deeper relation within. What a pleasure it was to be surrounded by so many gifted artists, but best of all to do the shoot with my beautiful daughter!
