25I haven’t posted in days since arriving on the East Coast. It’s been wonderful being back in Williamsburg with family and friends and being able to spend precious time with my beautiful mom who just turned 101 years young! Williamsburg has always been a very festive town during Christmas and you can really feel the holiday buzz. We had the enormous treat to experience the Final Grand illumination Ceremony in the old town enjoying period carols, grand fireworks at the Governor’s Palace, coconut cream cake, mulled wine topping it off with a Baroque Christmas concert in Bruton Parish Church where George Washington, Thomas Jefferson,James Monroe, John Tyler and Patrick Henry regularly attended church service. Finished with a brisk walk home under a night sky filled with bright stars, later watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” while enjoying the warmth of a crackling fire. In all my years I do not remember ever having seen such a wonderful display of fireworks. I felt like I was a kid again enjoying all the familiar sounds, flavours and fragrances of this festive time. Although there is always much fanfare surrounding Christmas I am always humbly reminded of the real reason behind this symbolic period which pays tribute to the birth of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who was born in a manger in the little town of Bethlehem which for believers is the greatest story that ever existed. Wishing you all a festive period of reflection, gratitude, much love, peace and the remembrance of those who are alone right now and may you be a beacon of light and a blessing to someone in need of some love. God Bless You All ❤️ and Light #Christmas #itsawonderfullife #carols #fireworks #williamsburg

16“Beauty Is Your Sense of Self” Full on glam look shot in NYC in the 80s by Silberstein . . . . . #fashionshoot #NYC #models #senseofself #beauty #1980s

27Rummaging through my things again this morning I came across some old slides from the 80s. Not sure any pics from the slides would actually turn out I decided to get a few printed. Surprised that the colour was pretty intact the girl at the photo shop complimented me on how well the slides were preserved all these years. I told her I preserve everything that is ancient really no pun intended! This picture is so sentimental to me because this was the first test shoot I did in NY with the famous photographer Ian Miles who shot supermodels and budding actors in the 80s who were to become the stars we know today. Personalities which may be too old for some of you to remember- Christie Brinkley, Brooke Shields, Elle McPherson, Andie MacDowell, Milla Jovovich ( 1st unforgettable Bladerunner), Sharon Stone, Dennis Hopper and the list goes on. I was unknown and had been slaving away as an assistant designer to an haute couture designer whose name I won’t mention. Anyway his wife was very demanding and we had a disagreement and I got sacked. I was young and quite impulsive in my earlier years and was relieved tbh not to have to work for this company any longer, but I needed work. Broke I met a close friend and we were having a coffee in a celebrity frequented cafe in Manhattan and why not when you are broke? We were trying to figure out where I was going to work. The unbelievable happened and In walked a well known makeup artist at the time who asked me if I had ever considered modelling. Perhaps I initially thought it was a gimmick, but soon discovered the test shoot would be with Ian Miles. I didn’t know who he was at the time, but this shoot got me on a plane and into my first agency in Milan called Beatrice. When I got to Milan they did tell me it was too American, too much makeup and styling but I will forever love this look which was so 80s and all the precious photographs I still have from Ian Miles that remind me of my life in NY. Here’s to dreams really coming true. ❤️ and Light . . . . . #NY #fashion #fashionshoot #portraits #models

14When someone asks who we are as women we often respond with what we do. We take on many roles each day. We identify with our roles of being a daughter, a mother, a wife, a partner, a friend, a student, a business professional, a stay at home mom. Or we might answer with where we are from or make other comments which may refer to who our family is or what we enjoy doing or even comment on how we think we look. The question still remains “Who are you?” While we can identify with many things in life our true identity is what remains when everything - all the above mentioned roles are stripped away. And then there is the ego, the pride, the judgement, the seeking validation from others and the need to “fit in” that create a false facade and conflict with you just trying to be you. Think about that. If you were on some remote island somewhere in the world completely alone who would you be? What remains after the stripping away is the real you which God created, but do you know your identity in God? It takes time, patience and courage to go through that process, but everything worth while does and can’t think of anything more worth while then getting to know the real you⭐️ ❤️ and Light . . . . . #identity #therealyou #who

10Don’t ever mistake exhaustion for defeat. Have you ever had that special reserve of energy to get through the hardest times when you needed it the most? You may be weary, but you are not worn out. You are still here existing and you are moving through the trial. It didn’t finish you off. Sometimes when we look back we wonder how we even got through. I can tell you how I got through and it was only with the strength of God not my own strength that helped me overcome some of the biggest challenges in life. We are limited in what we can do, but God is not. You do not need to struggle and there are situations completely beyond our control that call for divine intervention. It is tragic that so many people go through life full of pain having been betrayed by family members, friends and don’t feel loved when the most perfect unconditional love is available to them anytime and anywhere. Jesus gently knocks on the door of hearts and transforms lives and situations. If you are struggling in any way in your life invite him in. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Promise.
